Client: Mr. & Mrs. Sapperstein
New York, NY | 2007
The project joins together the client's love of the industrial objects and their desire to have a flexible space. The industrial washing machine metaphor allows the clients to interject their rituals into objects that themselves are latent with ritual and meaning. As an academic experiment, it proved quite fruitful as well as being cost effective answer to their spatial requirements (inexpensive cabinetry). The custom rolling library ladder proved to be a fruitful exploration in spring design and revisiting high school calculus and physics lessons.
